To utilise the Trust’s assets to nurture potential and develop skills amongst young people in Bradford.
1. To provide skills, training and employment opportunities for young people through projects which benefit the wider community.
2. To generate income from our property portfolio to support new skills, training and employment opportunities for young people.
3. To generate income from our property portfolio to fund building refurbishment / renovation and to provide on the job training in the building trade where possible.
4. To support local regeneration through the refurbishment / renovation of properties.
The Bradford Youth Build Trust (BYBT) was established in 2000 to provide skills training and job opportunities for young people in Bradford.
Our activities are funded by income generated from our property portfolio in Bradford. We currently own and manage 22 properties providing accommodation for tenants at affordable rents, as well as a construction training centre which is leased to a local college. In recent years uneconomic properties have been sold and have generated significant cash deposits.
In recent years our financial position has improved. As a result we have restarted our programme of buying, renovating and letting homes in the Bradford area which will also provide general building opportunities for young people during the refurbishment stage. In early 2016 we purchased and began the refurbishment of 4 previously unoccupied houses in central Bradford. These homes have been fully occupied and we are planning to purchase and refurbish further properties into the future, as part of our vision.
The upturn in our financial position has also enabled us to fund local projects supporting skills training and development for young people in the Bradford area. In 2015 we supported a number of schemes including Bradford Works a local environmental social enterprise and Bradford BEEs an environmental young persons engagement programme. BYBT plans to increase this funding to local groups across 2016 – 2019.
